We promote health

We promote people’s health by facilitating human connections and building communities where everyone can make health-promoting choices. Our goal is to reduce health disparities and inequality in society.
- We operate permanent and mobile Health Points, where we share health information and provide opportunities for face-to-face interactions.
- We organise low-threshold training sessions for substance users on the prevention of drug-related deaths and first aid.
- We attend youth events and operate sobering stations at some of them, where we assist intoxicated individuals and their loved ones.
- We coordinate the Injury Prevention Network and share information on accident prevention through campaigns and Safety Coach activities. Volunteers serving as Safety Coaches help people prevent accidents at home and during leisure time.
Our trained volunteers promote health by serving as trainers and running Health Points, among other activities. If necessary, the volunteers will refer people to further services. We work together with local authorities and organisations as well as other health promotion operators. Health promotion is an integral part of the Red Cross’s preparedness work to deal with situations such as pandemics.
Our health work is centred on respectful interaction. We help by talking to people and supporting them in their choices regarding their own health.
