How can I find a friend?

Do you need help with loneliness? Contact the volunteer friend activities of the Red Cross or become a volunteer.

1. Look for a friend through the friend visitor service

By contacting your local Red Cross friend visitor service by email or telephone you can find a friend for yourself or your loved one.

You can ask for a long-term friendship or one-off help. The Finnish Red Cross will find you a suitable friend. The forms and extent of friend activities vary by location.

2. Would you like to have an online friend?

Discussion are mainly held online in the Red Cross Online friend activities. Friends contact each other approximately every week or every other week, for example, by email or an anonymous instant messaging app of your choice.

4. Strengthen your friendship skills

The Red Cross Friendship Skills programme aims to help you strengthen your social skills, get to know yourself and your wishes and offer encouragement for meeting new people and deepening your existing relationships.

If you feel lonely, the programme also offers the opportunity to look at your situation and gain tools for easing loneliness.
