The Red Cross was the charity partner for Moomin’s 80th anniversary year 2025 – the door is always open

Tove Jansson began collaborating with the Red Cross as early as the 1960s. To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Moomins, Moomin Characters was once again partnering with The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in gathering funds for those in need.

To celebrate its 80th anniversary 2025, Moomin Characters donated 100,000 euros to the Finnish Red Cross Youth Shelters. Additionally, many Moomin licensees are donating a portion of the sales of certain products to the Red Cross.

– We are immensely grateful to Moomin Characters for the long-standing and fruitful collaboration. In Moomin stories, the Moominhouse symbolizes safety, security, and a sense of belonging. We at the Red Cross want to be that for those in need. Long-term partners are crucial for us to carry out our relief work, says Sirpa Solehmainen, Head of Fundraising at the Finnish Red Cross.
