Help is needed in Venezuela
Two exceptionally powerful earthquakes in Venezuela are causing immense suffering. The earthquakes are the strongest in the region in over a hundred years: the magnitudes of the two quakes were 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale.
The scale of destruction is vast: homes and buildings have collapsed into ruins. Health services have been affected, and electricity, transport and communication networks have been damaged.
The exact extent of the need for assistance is still being assessed, and in the initial phase the focus is on search and rescue, first aid, temporary shelter, and securing basic services such as water and healthcare. The number of casualties continues to rise. The most important priority is to find and rescue the survivors.

How does the Red Cross help in the Venezuela earthquake?
Volunteers of the Venezuelan Red Cross are evacuating people affected by the earthquake and searching for survivors among the rubble.
The Finnish Red Cross supports relief efforts through the International Red Cross using funds from the disaster relief fund. We are also ready, if needed, to send aid workers and material assistance.
People affected by the earthquake also need your help. If you can, please donate today. Thank you for your support.
