“As an accountant, I help the Red Cross make sound financial decisions. I help volunteers with their branches’ financial matters in the Helsinki and Uusimaa district and the Häme district. As a branch accountant, I see the overall financial picture. At the Red Cross, we help people through our work. I think this is what sets this organisation apart from other workplaces.
For me, the Red Cross is a dream workplace that I started to dream about when I previously cooperated with the organisation in relation to the reception of refugees and family reunification. I saw that the Red Cross accepts everyone as they are. Here, I am not alone. I receive support and encouragement.
I started out as a trainee in the organisation’s accounts payable team. After the traineeship, I moved on to a summer job and then later became a ledger manager. Eventually, I was hired for the permanent position of a branch accountant. I am happy about this particularly because it is difficult for an immigrant to find a job where they can be who they are. At the Red Cross, I feel at home.”
