The Loneliness Network of NGOs and the Participants’ Finland working group want to encourage everyone to show consideration for others through small gestures.

‘We can all do our part to reduce loneliness through small everyday gestures, such as greeting our neighbours and asking them how they are doing. Kind gestures can spread joy and a sense of community around you,’ says Maaret Alaranta, Social Well-being Coordinator at the Finnish Red Cross.

The Finnish Red Cross is part of the Loneliness Network of NGOs and coordinates it. The Loneliness Network brings together organisations and foundations operating nationwide in different fields.

The Friendly Week will take place from 9 to 15 February 2026 and is organised by Participants’ Finland and the Loneliness Network of organisations.
