Undocumented migrants

If you are living in Finland without a residence permit and need support and guidance, you can contact us. You can discuss your situation with us and we will support you in finding solutions. We will help you in finding and accessing services provided by public and third sector operators.

You can also send a WhatsApp message or make a WhatsApp call. A normal phone call costs the same as any normal mobile call. You can send a contact request via email or WhatsApp, and we will call you back.

If you want to anonymously discuss the help available to migrants who are in a difficult situation, please use the chat. Chat messages are responded to by Finnish Red Cross employees in Finnish and English.  

The chat is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 pm to 4 pm.

The Red Cross works together with associations and other entities supporting immigrants.

If you are residing in the Helsinki region, you can visit Support Point Mosaiikki, where we organise activities. We work closely with a number of organisations and can refer you to legal guidance and treatment.

Everyone is entitled to basic security

According to section 19 of the Constitution of Finland, “those who cannot obtain the means necessary for a life of dignity have the right to receive indispensable subsistence and care.”

The authorities must provide undocumented migrants with food, accommodation and essential social and health services, at a minimum. Public authorities must also safeguard the basic right of children to go to school and provide accommodation suitable for children and families with children. Everyone residing in Finland has these rights regardless of their legal status.
