An extensive archive has been amassed on the operations of the Finnish Red Cross.

Archives from 1877–1958 and the minutes of the FRC Board meetings up to 2004 are kept in the National Archives of Finland. You can search for this material in the Astia online service of the National Archives.

The archive also contains some material on individual districts and branches. You can browse the archive series here. If you are unable to find district and branch material using the search, you can request it from the district offices.

The National Archives of Finland often requires the user to have a research permit granted at the discretion of the Finnish Red Cross headquarters. For the time being, the material is not available in a digital format.

You can request images or archive materials from the late 1950s onwards directly from the headquarters. Some images are also included in the Finnish Red Cross material bank available with registration to everyone.

If you need material or old photos, please contact our headquarters information specialist pekka.turtiainen@redcross.fi.
