As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, many of us are spending more time at home than usual, including during our leisure time. What’s more, we have had to reduce the amount of contact we have, particularly face-to-face, with our elderly friends and family. Now more than ever it is important to take care of each other and look after both our own safety and that of others. About 90% of fatal accidents and 80% of accidents that lead to injuries occur at home and during leisure time.

Finnish Red Cross

The Red Cross has been monitoring the coronavirus situation and its development in Finland and abroad since the outbreak began. Our operations hinge on promoting the well-being of people and helping and taking those in need into consideration.

World AIDS Day is on Friday 1 December. Currently there are about 600 people with HIV in Finland who are unaware that they have been infected. Various organisations play a significant role in the fight against HIV when the goal is to make contact with those individuals whom public healthcare cannot easily reach.
