The Logistics Centre located in Kalkku, Tampere, maintains the Finnish Red Cross’ international ability to help.

General Field Hospital

The general field hospital has the capacity to serve a population of 200,000 to 300,000. It has the ability to treat 150 to 250 patients per day. Standard ward capacity of the hospital is 160 beds.

Surgical Field Hospital

The surgical field hospital has the capacity to serve a population of 200,000 to 300,000. It has the ability to treat 50 to 100 patients per day. Surgeons can perform anything up to 20 operations per day. Standard ward capacity of the hospital is 80 beds.

Basic Health Clinic

In a fixed location, the basic health clinic has the capacity to serve a population of 20,000 to 30,000. It has the ability to treat 50 to 200 patients per day. If needed, the clinic has overnight ward capacity for 20 patients.

Logistics

When boiled to the bones, the fundamental purpose of the Red Cross Red Crescent logistics is to facilitate the transformation of a ten currency unit banknote, donated by a benevolent individual somewhere in the world, into a pair of surgical scissors, a set of kitchen utensils or a sack of seeds on the other side of the world.
