FACT: Field Assessment Coordination Team

The Field Assessment Coordination Team (FACT) is one of the most essential global disaster relief tools of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

FACT is an international, multi-disciplined team that supports the ability of national organisations to operate in cases of disaster and promotes the coordination of aid from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The field assessment coordination team evaluates the overall need for aid and coordinates the relief operation in cooperation with the national organisation and other actors in order to deliver aid quickly and safely.

A special trained FACT team can be sent to the destination within 12–24 hours. The assignment typically lasts two to four weeks.  The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is responsible for the training, recruitment and mobilisation of FACT teams.

The field assessment coordination team founded in 2000 always works in close cooperation with rapid response units and regional response teams.
