Relief for Uncertainty – Red Cross Tracing Services and Red Cross Messages

The Red Cross provides relief for uncertainty by helping lost family members locate each other and communicate with each other.

Tracing Services traces lost family members

With the help of tracing we seek family members when they have lost each other due to war or accident.

International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) leads the tracing work in war zones. It realizes approximately 10 000 new tracings annually and delivers over 500 000 messages.

All 186 national societies of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent participate in reuniting families. The Finnish Red Cross is a part of this global network. We do approximately 150 tracings annually in over 30 countries.

Red Cross Messages help communicate

The Red Cross also helps family members communicate with each other when normal postal- or data communications are not available as a result of war or accident. Our organization delivers Red Cross Messages until communications are normalized.

The Finnish Red Cross delivers approximately 50 messages from Finland annually and receives the equal amount of messages from other countries.
